P0171 Mazda - Im just going to say i think you're too stuck on this MAF sensor. I have this problem, replaced the MAF and in fact made my car worse from then on. I of course returned the MAF and put the old one in and sense my car just keeps getting worse. Maybe for others situations butclearly not a resolution on my end. I have a standard v6 mazda 6 (2003) that now has less power than a 4 cylinder. Car sounds weird on start up, similar to that which i imagined an old projector to sound like. Idles like crap and if im not careful it dies on start up. Additionally the oil lamp comes on at low rpm's but i have enough oil. From what ive read so far elsewhere is that my oil control valves and various other control valves may be jacked up. Any ideas? Hi there,

According to the article you are referencing there are still a multitude of things you need to look at on this car. Possibly a plugged up converter, timing issue, FUEL PRESSURE all could be causing this. The code means there is a lean fuel system. Intake vacuum leaks will cause it as well. I suggest looking into the fuel pressure since it seems to be affecting the entire engine, but would also consider dropping the front pipe and making sure the converters aren't plugged up on it as well.
