How to resolve error code P0328 in Toyota - Avensis 2003 model

Question

Error code P0328 knock sensor was diagnosed by a Toyota dealer, but still don't know what to do. Say will still need to investigate further to detect what problem is and this will cost me a further £200+not including the cost to repair problem after investigation.
I am thinking time to get a new car. But really disappointed as this points to the fact that used Toyota cars should be avoided.
Need help on what to do, to resolve problem without having to break the bank.

P0328 Knock sensor 1circuit high input Bank 1 or single sensor

Check the coolant level and motor oil level. having a slight knock where the knock sensor can not handle would set a knock code. P0328 is a straight foward code. it just a non operational knock sensor.
