P0742 Torque convertor clutch (TCC) system - stuck on.

When this code occurs the PCM disables shift adapts and commands TCC on at  maximum capacity and in doing so you may just have a engine stalling condition. This code in many case is a internal mechanical condition with the transmission. What happens are the turbine shaft seals come apart. and if this is the case you would hear a whine noise. You can try a transmission aditive such as a Lucas transmission thickener if it does not work you rebuild the transmission.
