i get code p-0455 while I get a message on the display saying to tighten the gas cap. would buying a new gas cap fix this problem?

2009 Chevrolet Impala 3.5 engine, flex fuel, vin code (k).

Getting a new fuel cap could resolve the problem, but only if the cap seal appears to be damaged. This code is for a major evap leak in the evap system so it usually starts with the fuel cap either being off or damaged. If the cap looks ok, then chances are good there is some underlying issue that is causing the code. Usually the best method for finding the leak is to have a shop do a smoke test to locate the leak, then if you want to save money you can perform the repair yourself.
