what are the effects of the leak detection pump going out in a Dodge Dakota 3.9 ltr. truck 2002

can the leak detection pump cause the vehicle to cut off while its running and not start back?

Hi there,

The leak detectionn pump is only used to test the evap system on the emissions. It will not cause a stalling problem with the truck and most of the time isn't even running since it's only used to test the system when the computer sees the correct parameters for testing.

This actually sounds more like a bad cam or crank sensor to be honest.
