P0402 Ford - E350

Question

I have a P402 code on my E350. It started shaking/rattling while on the road then shut off. I was able to turn it back on and make it back home. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

P0402 Exhaust gas recirculation flow excessive

A excessive flow on the EGR is not going to cause shaking and rattle and the engine to shut off. A restriction in either the intake or exhaust system can cause a P0402 and the engine to shut off.

 Here a EGR for a Ford 6.0.Even though the EGR system was plugged up it coded a P0402  As a result what was found was excessive coking The fix here was to install a EGR delete system .
