P1450 Ford - Taurus

Question

Smelling gas from car, looked under car and see a shiny oily spot by the tank I believe is covering the evap canister . I smelled it and it smelt like gas, and I wasn't sure if that was the cause or I'm smelling gas because that is the fuel tank . I don't want my car to blow up on me.

HI there,

The code means the system can't pull a vacuum and there is a leak. This is the evap system and not the gas tank. In most cases it's the vent control valve on the canister causing the condition. Here is some more info.
