P0171 Chevrolet -HHR, pump throttle to start.. otherwise runs well.

Question

Can crank over but won't start until you pump the throttle like on carbureted engines. Other wise the car runs great, doesn't chug, and climbs hills with ease. Idle does seem a bit slow though. No other codes present.

P0171 Fuel trim system lean

When this code comes on it disables the ABS system and and traction control and it can create a harsh transmission shift, vacuum leaks are some of the causes for a lean condition and low fuel pressure, When it comes to a lean code condition on a HHR a fuel injector balance test is what is required . You may want to add a fuel injector cleaner the one that you add to the fuel tank and clear the code and go from there
