P0087 Volkswagen -2012 jetta tdi

Question

First I had engine light and a P0191 code, replaced fuel filter just to see any issues, everything looked normal no metal just a little bit of rust around canister. I ordered the fuel pressure sensor and today a P0087 code appear! The sensor arrived today....could there be any more issues?

P0087 Fuel Ral / system pressure too low

It possible that it might be the low presure pump , the one in the tank. As long as the vehicle is not running rough you may not have anything to worry about, That is with the high pressure pump.Here what the TSB for VW # 23 14 03 for rough running condition with DTC P0087 .P0088. and P0191.

On the metering valve you can inspect for debris , by removing the metering valve

 If you find debris such as this , you would need a high pressure pump.

 On the VW it came in with a P0087 and a P0191, there was no running rough condition, the metering was inspected and no debris found, to resolve the code condition the low fuel pressure pump was found to be at fault.
