So I have recently bought a 2003 ford KA, after having the vehicle for a week the engine light came on, I took the car back to where I bought it from - they did there checks cleared the code and advised there was nothing wrong with the car, this is po1000 and is something Ford implemented in there cars for security.

I have taken the vehicle back since as it came on again (giving the same code), again they switched this off and told me to go back if it comes back on.

Today the light has come back on, the vehicle drives fine but I need a second opinion, should I be warey that this is the third time the light has come on? I have a 2 hour drive planned this weekend and God forbid I break down!

Your help in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Vehicle: 2003 1.3

P1000 you will not be able to clear it the ECM will have to clear this code on its own., every time you reset the CK ENG LT it reset itself, until its monitor are reset by its own computer. It take several drive cycles sometimes days to clear the CK ENG LT. just for P1000.
