2007 Mazda Mazda3 Hatchback 2.3L 4 Cyl with code U0101

Question

My 2007 Mazda Mazda3 Hatchback 2.3L 4 Cyl just started to slow down while on a major highway. I got off and went to a Mazda dealer and a code of U0101 showed up. He told me it might cost up to $800.00 just for the part. Others tell me it could be just a loose wire.

Can you help me out? I don't know who to believe.

U0101 Communication error to PCM

Loose wire would be more like the problem , you would need the other U code that are with this code condition to determine which if any module is at fault. U101 are usually seen with the instrument panel being faulty, but it does not cause the vehicle to slow down or loose power. there should be other code store with this one
