Check engine light on and code p3497 is what i got from diagnostics machine

i got code P3497 for my dodge magnum i was told i needed a new oil pump i wana know what is exactly wrong? And how to get the light off and my ride 100%

The MDS uses oil pressure to make a transition from 8 cylinder mode to 4 cylinder mode. In order for this code condition to occur there would be insufficient oil pressure acting on the lifter locking pin. When it comes to this type of system it is also important to use the proper oil weight that  the engine requires which would be 5w-20.This code is common to the oil pump problem
