I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu with 97K on it. The check engine light is on with a P0010 code. The car does not hesitate or run rough and it has lots of power just as if nothing is wrong. I had the oil changed just before this code appeared. I have since changed the oil reset the computer and the light went out. I then went for a ten minute drive no light came on, shut down the car for twenty minutes started it up and the light appeared again. My OBD11 unit tells me that it is the "A" Camshaft Position-Actuator Circuit (Bank 1). How long can I drive it like this and how easy is the fix. I am very mechanical. Thanks Wayne G.
P0010 Intake cam position (CMP) actuator solenoid control circuit
For this code condition make sure the solenoid is connected, if the connection to the solenoid is secured, then what may just have is a open solenoid. P0010 mean the circuit is open either with the solenoid or its connection. You have 2 scamshaft psotion solenoid actuator it adviseable to replace in pairs. The intakecamshaft actuator solenoid and the Exhaust camshaft actuator solenoid.
This is the intake side, which is where the intake manifold is located
This is the exhaust side, where the exhaust manifold is located at.
