recently this code is on my car. One body shop said that it will cost 1600 at least to repair and possibly 325 more if computer does not reset properly. Could also cost more if hardware damage discovered. I am afraid to take it to the dealer for they are expensive and do not trust the diagnosis.
Can this be as simple as draining the fluid?
please advise...thank you
P0741 Torque convertor clutch solenoid.
This is for the shift solenoid valve DSL. . Even if this ends up being a ECM problem you still have to replace the DSL solenoid valve as a safe gaurd regarless if it test good. Now this is a big IF. if it is the ECM. By experience it mostly both. P0741 is usually a circuit problem. Solenoid left unrepaired can short out its ECM driver.
Inspect the transmission fluid condition, being low with fluid can cause a P0741, Drain the transmission fluid and inspect for sediment if there is heavy sediment, the valve body may need to be replaced. and torque convertor. with the offending solenoid. If the transmission fluid is burnt replace the transmission. If the fluid is sort of clean (all fluid will come out dirty)you can replace the DSL solenoid. valve. Mileage also plays apart if less than 150,000 miles the solenoid may be the fix.
