Took it to dealer. Repair shop advised that it was some kind of evap emission warning sensor--said they always wear out after 4-5 years and repair/replacement would cost $700+ but there would be no problem to continue to operate vehicle with the sensor not operating. Could even be caused by gas cap not on tight enough. Is this true? I did put some white lithium grease on seals on gas cap, but the warning light still comes on, but not as frequently. I just clear it with OBDII and carry on.

Should I be concerned?

P0441 Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge

Usually if this was a fuel cap you would also code a EVAP vent code. If you only coding a P0441 the purge hose may have gotten knock of during a airfilter change or inspection.

The most common cause for P0441 is where the purge hose somehow got disconnected, Check for the purge hose connection and just reconnect.
