truck cranks and runs fine but has a hard random miss going down the road. shows cam sensor code but already replace the distributor problem is still there. what else can cause this?

Vehicle: 1997 Chevy 1500 5.0L (305)

You can set a cam sensor code if there is a random misfire condition.What is constantly over look is the distributor cap.

In this distributor cap , the secondary ignition can touch internally setiing a random misifre condition. which was found as misfire # 2 and Misfire # 8

Here is a screw driver with a ground wire attatched to it to attract any secondary voltage leakage, and sure enough you can hear the secondary going thru the cap.

It can also be used to test for secondary leakage along the sparkplug wire.
