Question

For a 1998 Mercedes S320 can the error code P0748 mean the Trans Control Module is faulty?

P0748 Modulating pressure regulating solenoid

What scan tool grade are you using? MBZ does not communicate very well if using a generic scan tool, a factory grade or a scan tool that can communicate at a factory level is more suited for this year or any year  MBZ. P0748 can be caused by the RPM sensor as well as the conductor plate. If you have P0748 it would be more of a internal resistance or the connections.

 Here the shift solenoid with the conductor plate with this MBZ transmission. when it comes to shift solenoid the RPM sensor as well as the shift solenoids are replaced as a whole and this inclused the conductor plate.
