code p440 with engine light on gmc jimmy

Question

Can anyone tell me what the code p440 on my gmc jimmy is.....I have been trying for 2 months to get vehicle to pass inspection as I had 2 incompletes. Now I tried this am and this code came up...any help would be muchly appreciated!

HI there,

Sadly this is a catch all code. It means there is a problem with the evap system, but the computer can't tell where the actual issue is. Sometimes you can start with a smoke test at least to check for leaks, but all of the possible issues have to be tested and eliminated. Here is some info to help.
