P0622 2006 Ford Mustang GT

Question

Having intermittent battery light and "Check Charging System" message. Computer code reads P0622. Replaced the battery, didn't help. How can I determine if it is the alternator, electrical connections to alternator or something else?

P0622 Generator field terminal circuit

Measure the charging system , a good charging system will have a charge of 2 volts above battery which would be 14.5 volts. If the alternator produces more than 15.5 volts the system is overcharging which would be the alternator., Check the alternator connection it should have a terminal with 3 wire. check the terminal and the harness for any open that can create a P0622.
