How serious is this code & what shop time should I expect to have it fixed?

The code means that the Intake Valve Timing Control Bank 1 is not working properly. A faulty valve could cause poor gas mileage and loose of power, and of course it will fail the smog test. Replacing the valve is very simple; it takes 1 hour at the most. Before replacing the valve, try changing the engine oil. The valve works with engine oil, and failure to change the engine oil often, could cause the valve to fail. Make sure you use the factory recommended engine oil only.
