my 2000 chevy truck ran hot and now shows a number 3 misfire. plugs are good , no water in oil , so were do I start to try to fix problem

P0300 Random misfire

For cylinder number 3 the best test would be a cylinder efficiency test. , or a leak down test of the cylinder number 3.
