I have a 1996 LEX ES300 I was told by a few people that my battery was still good that i needed to replace the alternator. So i replaced it today and after we jumped the car and kept it hooked up to another battery for a good 5 minutes we would remove the cables the car would stay running for at least 5 mins then just cut off, I got a code P0773 but wen i was reading up on it my car wasn't doing any of the things other people mentioned. Cold you please help me out?

P0773 Shift solenoid "E" electrical malfucntion

This is the SL valve. which is used for the lock up clutch,  There is 2 ways this can get set, one the vehicle is driven and during the driving the ECM would see a malfunction when it signals the ECM to control hydraulic pressure on the lock up relay valve, the second way, One of the main job of the ECM is look for open circuit, short circuit, grounds, and rationality. Becuase the vehicle is at idle and not running you have either a open circuit with SL valve or a short circuit with the SL valve, When the ECM codes a P0773 the SL valve is turned off. there is no way this valve is causing the engine to stall.
