Ram cummins diesel 3500 is not shifting into 2nd gear. Stuck in 1st. Could this code be the reason?

P2509 Power down data loss error

Yes it can affect the transmission , it probably causing the transmission relay to not work . without the power needed at the transmission solenoid assembly the output speed sensor will not work and as a result there is no shifting at all, P2509 start with the charging system. properly charging then go check the fuse for this , check the fuse for any open fuse and replace.
