what could possibly cause a delay in gear selection in a camry 2009 model auto drve?

My car does not accelerate smoothly. its as if the gear-box is not smart. Delays in gear selection even though its an automatic drive system. makes driving difficult. What could possibly be the fault?

P0500 Vehicle speed sensor

Do you have P0500 as the code condition? There is a reflash for the PCM that is now under warranty from Toyota.
