Have 2012 Honda Civic (automatic transmission) that sat in parking lot for a month. When started, it gave check engine and check transmission lights. When opened hood, could see a critter had chewed at wiring harness on oxygen sensor (upstream of catalytic converter). Although insulation is damaged, we couldn't see that wires are shorted or open on sensor. Took car to Honda dealer and scheduled appointment. The dealer tech didn't think the oxygen sensor would cause the check transmission light error. Then took car to parts store and they detected P1717 code. We've ordered replacement oxygen sensor. If the critter chewed another wire somewhere, where should we look for a problem that would cause the P1717 code?
