my check engine light on reads p0404, my factory electric start not working also . what could it be

i have a chevy malibu , 2005 with only 38k miles, 3500 engine my electric start does not work since code came on . is this related?

P0404 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) open position perfromance

This code is for a stuck open EGR valve, which will cause a rough idle to occur.When it comes to the starter issue check the battery terminals they should be tight and clean with no corrosion build up. Check the operation of the headlamp it should be bright and not dim. Have the battery check , if the battery is good you may need a starter, this code and the condition you have is not related

 

 Here is a EGR valve that is stuck open , it is completely stuck in the open position and is rendered useless, it created a P0171 (lean fuel system Bank 1)   and a P0303 (misifire number 3 cylinder)   and P0304. (Misfire number 4 cylinder). Replacing the EGR correct the code condition, This EGR valve did not cause a starter failure , and the starter did not cause the EGR to fail open.
