The cam position sensor reports the position of the cam to the computer. This also has a crank position sensor. This tells the computer that the engine is in time. When you have a code for the cam sensor it usually means you should replace the cam sensor. This usually resolves the code. Depending on the engine size the cam sensors position on the engine will vary.
