I have a 1995 Mazda protege 1.5L dx with an OBD2 conde P0001, how do I fix it?

I dont know why but my Mazda is OBD2. When I plug the OBD1 reader under the hood, it tells me to plug an OBD2 underneath the left steering wheel. My car is scheduled for smog and I plugged in the scanner to check its IMS and it gave me this code. I have no problem with this car exept in december when it was cold the idle was a little bit too high for me only in the morning. I loosened the cable (I tightened it awhile back to get better response) and is fine right now. Thank you.
