P0729 - ford dealer couldn't do anything

Question

The trany on my 2009 escape (6 speed auto) has acted up intermittently for ever. It seems to downshift on the highway for no reason and the tach jumps up, sometimes to 4000 rpm. I have to pull over and restart th engine to reboot something. The check engine light doesn't usually come on. The last time it did and I took it to my local ford dealer. They had it for a week. They said they needed it to happen to them. It never happened. They charged me $124 to do nothing.
