P0715 Mercedes-Benz -

Question

My 1999 c230 MB had a p0715 reading when the check engine light came on after driving for a while but after the reading the check engine light went out. Before it came on, I noticed driving was sluggish. I stopped and when I started the engine again I couldn't get the car to engage in reverse and in drive. It responded when I shifted into park and when I went into reverse again the car jerked and there was a clanking sound. The same thing happened in drive.The transmission fluid was low and dark so I had it replaced but the same thing happened again. What needs to be done to fix this?
