P0131 Mazda rx8

P0131 Front 02 sensor signal low.

When the 02 sensor degrade from useage and mileage it get slow response, the fix is a new 02 sensor, With this particular vehicle if the engine is operated at a extended long period at high RPM is tends to heat up and melt  the 02 sensor and the catalytic convertor,which will render the 02 sensor useless and create a fire hazard, See if a Recall for this has been perfromed,Recall # 3305G , will a reprogram of the ECM will be required.
