2002 Toyota Camry v6 p0420 catalytic converter

Do I have to replace the catalytic converter if have the p0420 code on 2002 Toyota Camry ?

When a P0420 occurs replacing the catalytic is the last event to be done, There are times the catalytic can not do its job this is mainly due to poor maintance such as tune ups worn sparkplugs which  can contribute to improper working of the catalytic convertor, MAF (mass air flow) that does not correctly report the amount of air flow into the engine which will just require a MAF cleanng . Vacum leaks also can do this .And beside putiing in a catalytic convertor without find out why it failed is costly.
