888 service code for 2005 dodge neon sxt

Question

The car runs and drives but won't shift out of first gear I removed and cleaned the transmission input and output speed sensors. What else can I do before I have to spend money to try and trouble shoot the problem

P0888 Relay output always off

This is for the transmission  control relay , which uses a relay to supply power to the transmission solenoid pressure switch assembly. Some of the cause for this code can be from the transmission relay located in the engine fuse box listed as Transmission Control. Relay.The fuse is open listed as fuse 17. or there is a poor connection. at the switch side of the transmission control relay.
