P0457 Ford - Lincoln Mark Lt

Question

Replaced the fuel cap....but check engine light still on and check fuel cap still showing on the dash of my 2006 Lincoln Mark lt???

HI there,

This code points to a leak in the evap system. Its large enough that the computer thinks it's the gas cap. Since you replaced the cap and the code is still there, it's possible it's leaking somewhere else. Next step is a smoke test to locate the leak. If you didn't clear the codes, then it will take the light a while to go out on it's own. If you didn't clear them, then you should and see if the code returns
