P0340 - replaced both sensors still code and poor aceleration still dies

Question

had mechanic change exhaust cam sensor, and I replaced the intake cam sensor but replacements didn't clear the engine light, and still have the same issues continue, poor engine acceleration, intermittently dies when stopping, or pushing on the clutch, checked for vacumm leaks--none, is this now a DME / EMR problem, or a mechanical VANOs problem. code stays p0340 and I changed the sensors what do I do next?

You may want to check for a plugged exhaust, a plugged exhaust would also set a P0340 with a thermostat map cooling.For this use a vacuum gauge ,
