I installed handicap hand control on my vehicle and it may have effected the wiring that connects to my transmission range sensor and now it wont start. The back up lights or brake lights are stuck on. The engine cranks and wants to cut on but wont turn over. what should I do? I replaced the fuel pump, fuel tank pressure sensor, fuel filter and put in a new battery. I dont think /i split the wiring how ever I may have: - Faulty Park/Neutral Position Switch - Misadjusted Park/Neutral Position Switch - Park/Neutral Position Switch harness is open or shorted - Park/Neutral Position Switch circuit poor electrical connection
How can I check the connections if I don't know which plug is which?
What the Transmission range sensor does is give the information as to which gear the transmission is in, Even if you disconnected the transmission range sensor, the engine will still start (provided the you can direct connect the starter).A no start will not be caused by the PRNDL (transmission switch) having the rear light or brake lights on something got short to power If the stop light switch is affected and has power all the time the shift interlock will not function properly which may allow you to accidently put the transmission in park as you are in a drive gear accelerating. If the engine wants to start but just does not catch check the fuel pressure the fuel pressure should be 52 to 59 psi.
