I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 4.0 engine that shows error code P1491. The temperature gauge is slow to rise to 210 (normal operating temperature) and then when it does it tries to overheat.
What is this error and how can I correct the issue?

Vehicle: 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6.0 2wd

Hi there,

Start by checking the cooling fans, the code is for the cooling fan circuit. If one of the fans isn't coming on it will try to overheat. So check and make sure both are working and if not test the fan to make sure the motor is ok. If it's good, then you will need to check the fuses, the wiring and the fan module.
