my 05 Maxima with @75k miles is starting to have issues shifing from 2nd to 3rd (auto tranny) no OBD codes.  took to a local transmission place, the first diagnostics came up with nothing and had to go back.  2nd time scanned and found P0726 code, which they werent familiar with...but investigated and told me possible ECU/TCM communication problem but also told me they saw what they thought were signs of internal transmission issues and they couldnt tell me anymore until they ripped the tranny apart for $500.  Am i getting good information from these guys or should I go for a 2nd opinion?  Car doesnt experience this problem all the time, sometimes there are a few days in between, doesnt matter if engine is hot or cold...

thanks, Donna

This is not an interal mechanical issue and is likely a broken wire causing the problem.

It could also be the ecm or tcm but very unlikely the transmission itself has an internal error.
