If you replace the MAF in my 2009 suburban do I need to reprogram ECU or have upgraded?

you will have to do a relearn, 

you can try to disconnect the battery for 30min to an hour to clear the memory 

start the car and let it idle for 5 min or so 

if the idle does not relearn you may need to take it to dealer or someone who has a computer to do the relearn.
