P0016 Toyota -2001 corrolla

Hi my Toyota corrolla2001 have no cable for vvt sensor mechenic say that some body change engine and use old wiring so need to Chang engine againe or complete wiring is there any short cut

The 2001 Corolla is a 1.8 Liter engine, not 1.6

did they install a 1.6L engine with the wiring harness?

If you have to replace both engine and harness, I dont think it is worth spending the money to do all that. its at least going to cost $2000 with part and labor.
