Everytime I put the ELM327 and take it out after using my car stalls never did this before

Question

Everytime I put the ELM327 and take it out after using it, my car turns on the check engine light and stalls quickly after turning on. I reset the battery and that seems to fix the issue but otherwise I will be driving the car and it stalls on the road. It never use to do until I started using this ELM327. What is going on?
