How to fix p0455 evaporative emission leak detected on a 2009 for escape xlt?

Check engine light displayed. I took vehicle to local auto parts tore for diagnostics. Test results show p0455 evaporative emission system leak detected. What does that mean and how do I fix the problem?

Hi there,

Basically it means what it says, there is a leak in the evap emissions system. This can be caused by a loose gas cap or sometimes it's caused by a bad vent control valve. Check the fuel cap, if it's tight, then I would have a smoke test done to locate the source of the leak.
