all my gauges went wild, and my transmission wouldnt shift out of first or second gear. then my lhs died and i was unable to start it back up. i understand thats usually like a safe mode for the transmission, but i am unclearwhy it wont start again.

1740 Torque convertr clutch solenoid

These code condition are both the same one is for a generic code and the other is manufactuer code condition. Neither one one these is not  going to cause the transmission to  not shift out of first or second gear. If the gauges went wild check the battery terminals for proper connection , another cause for this code can be low battery voltage or the charging system.
