HOW TO diagnose error code p0174 on a 2001 ford windstar

Question

have replaced pcv hose, and am gonna clean maf sensor tomorrow.at one time we had p0171 and 174 now we just have 174 code.could the pcv hose fixed the 171 code?

Where do i start on finding the problem for the p0174 code??

Engine wants to die at idle and can smell somthing burning under hood after driving down the road.lack of power and bad shift points,also idles high in park.POOR engine performance.

This could still be the result of a bad mass air flow sensor, or low fuel pressure. With the engine running at idle, spray some carb cleaner along the intake and the vacuum hoses. If the idle speed increases or smooths out, then you have a vacuum leak. This can set off a single bank lean code like this.Based on your symptoms though it sounds like you have an issue with the maf sensor.
