Is there something on the engine that would control the gas gauge?

I had a used 4.3l v6 engine put into the blazer. Before it when in the gas gauge worked. When I got it home from the shop it doesn't work. The shop said they didn't touch anything that would effect it. Is there something on the engine that needs to be looked at?

Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet S-10 blazer extreme
