P0450 2002 Toyota Highlander -

Question

How would I know what steps to take first. I see that this can be a drawn out long process which can ad up to a lot of money so I was wondering if previous experience or historical data would provide a highly educated guess to make the necessary repair the first time.

HI there,

This code is for the fuel tank pressure sensor. Basically the sensor reads the pressure in the evap system, and tells it when there is a purgng problem. Most of the time with this code, there is a leak in the system. I would start with a smoke test, then do the repair.
