p0500 and p0462 code came up on 05 nissan maxima

my dashboard gauges, gas, rpms, hot and cold, blinker display lights, a/c and heat all went out at same time. Nissan maxima 05. recently replaced alternator this week. what the heck?

Hi there,

This usually means the instrument panel cluster has failed. The unified meter controls these features and will also give the speed sensor code. This car uses the ABS for the speedo and if the unified meter has stopped working you will get the P0500 speed sensor code. As for the P0462, this code is for the fuel level sensor circuit. If the gas gauge isn't working, then this could be the reason for the code.
