How do I go about troubleshooting and isolating the exact problem for this particular code?

P0010 Intake cam position (CMP) acutaor solenoid control circuit

The best way to trouble shoot this code condition is install a known good one. It is the ECM that looks for open short and ground. When this code condition occurs the ECM there was a open , or a short or a ground for more than .25 seconds.  This is a common code that always occurs
