How do I check the solenoid to determine that it is bad?

I have a code PO740. My trans fluid and filter are brand new. I checked for voltage and I have it all the way down to the TCC solenoid. I would like to know if there is a way to check the solenoid before I buy one.

Vehicle: 1997 Chevrolet 2500 5.7

P0740 TCC malfunction

If you just it for voltage to the solenoid then it is the TCC that is giving problem.
