p1637 code

Question

alternator stopped charging, replaced with new one. charging fine around 14-15 amps. p1637 generator L terminal popped up. when erased with scan tool just keeps coming back. alternator plug seems fine and not corroded. all connections seem fine along with clean and good battery. could this be a bad alternator even though its new and been tested.
